ALASKA
Alaska—the Last Frontier—is more than stunning views. It’s a mission field where people need the hope of Jesus. Alaska isn’t just mountains, glaciers, and world-class fishing—it’s a mission field crying out for hope. With just 730,000 people spread across a land twice the size of Texas, half live in a handful of cities like Anchorage and Fairbanks, while the rest are scattered in remote villages only accessible by plane, boat, ATV, or snow machine.
Behind the stunning beauty lies deep brokenness. Poverty, addiction, homelessness, teenage suicide, and long winters of darkness weigh heavy on the Alaskan people. The needs are real, but so is the opportunity. Local churches, ministries, camps, and nonprofits are working faithfully to bring light into the darkness—and they’re asking for help.
That’s where you come in. Mission teams in Alaska get their hands dirty and their hearts full. There’s no shortage of ways to serve. And with summer’s endless daylight, every hour is a chance to work hard, love people, and point them to Jesus.
GoodNews Journey is especially excited to partner with Brian and Heather Williams. Sent out by Hopewell Baptist and the North American Mission Board, the Williams family is planting their lives in the Copper River Valley to make disciples, plant churches, and raise up leaders in one of the most spiritually unreached regions in North America.
When you join this Alaska mission trip, you’re not just going on an adventure—you’re stepping into a story of eternal impact. Together, we can encourage frontline leaders, serve those in need, and shine the light of Christ in the Last Frontier.

Reaching the Heart of Europe’s Oldest Nation
Portugal, one of Europe’s oldest nations, is a land of stunning coastlines, historic cities, and a rich cultural heritage. Yet behind its beauty lies a deep spiritual need. Evangelical believers make up less than half of one percent of the population, and in many areas Christians are almost invisible. Evangelical churches are few, small, and often isolated—the average congregation has fewer than 50 people.
GoodNews Journey partners with our longtime friend and missionary pastor, Fernando Silva, who faithfully leads gospel work across northern Portugal. Fernando pastors churches and mobilizes mission teams to serve in cities like Vila Real, Chaves, and Bragança, where the presence of the gospel is minimal. In one metro area of 200,000 people, his church is the only Baptist congregation.
On this mission trip, your team will join Fernando and his church to bring light into spiritual darkness. You’ll connect with families in low-income apartment communities through social activities, community events, and personal evangelism. You’ll encourage local believers who often feel isolated and help expand gospel influence in cities where the name of Jesus is rarely heard.
A mission trip to Portugal combines the beauty of Europe with the urgency of the Great Commission. As you serve, you’ll not only experience a vibrant culture—you’ll be part of planting seeds of eternal hope in one of Europe’s most overlooked mission fields.

To the Ends of the Earth
Ready to take the greatest spiritual adventure of your life?
Join us as we head into the remote, rugged, and spiritually hungry part of Cambodia’s northeastern frontier, home to hill-tribe communities that have lived for over a thousand years. Many here have never heard the name of Jesus, and even fewer have been discipled in the truth of the gospel. Poverty is deep, access is difficult, and life expectancy is low — but the opportunity for kingdom impact is massive.
This is not your average mission trip. It’s a calling to go where few are willing to go. You’ll travel from the capital city to distant villages where we’ll partner with courageous local believers who are planting the gospel in unreached soil.
As part of the team, you’ll help meet physical and spiritual needs in powerful ways like:
🛠️ Build latrines and provide clean water
🎨 Lead children’s ministry with games, stories, crafts, and love
🙏 Pray over the sick, share your testimony, and encourage local believers
🧡 Use your skills — whether in sports, music, construction, healthcare, or simply showing up with a servant’s heart
You’ll also take part in one of the most beautiful moments of missions: watching the Cambodian church rise with boldness, fueled by your partnership. Our presence strengthens their mission. Our prayers embolden their steps. And as we go together, we get a front-row seat to the gospel transforming lives.
This is a trip for anyone who says, “Here I am, Lord. Send me.” It’s for those ready to give up comfort, travel far, and experience the joy of God using you in places most people never go.
Don’t miss this chance. God is already moving in Cambodia. Will you go with us?

The group leader should click “I’m Interested” on the mission project page to begin. GoodNews Journey will then contact the group’s leader to discuss the project and agree on estimated dates with the missionary, church planter, or ministry partner.
Can individual participants (without a group) register?
Yes! Individuals or small groups are welcome to JOIN a Team that fits both their interests and the needs of the mission project.
How does an individual officially join a group?
In the JOIN a Team section, find the project that fits you best and click “Apply” to begin the application process.
What is a Certified Sending Partner?
Certified Sending Partners invite participants from other churches to join their mission trips. This provides peace of mind for churches and families, knowing that the host leadership ensures a safe and effective mission trip. The Certified Sending Partners’ leadership approves all participants for their trips.
What are the requirements for a church to become a Certified Sending Partner?
– Partner with missionaries, church planters, or ministry partners who adhere to evangelical Christian doctrine.
– Aim for long-term relationships with field personnel.
– Run background checks on participants 18+.
– Require Safe and Secure child safety training for leaders.
– Maintain adult to minor ratios (1:6 In-State, 1:5 Out-of-State, 1:4 Out-of-Country).
– Provide leader and team training for safety, effectiveness, and gospel focus.
– Require applications and references for all participants.
– Secure travel insurance for all team members.
– Require release forms and consent documents.
– Use registration systems (e.g., Managed Missions, GoMethod) for tracking requirements and payments.
*GoodNews Journey will assist with these requirements.
Why should a church consider becoming a Certified Sending Partner?
One church can achieve a lot, but multiple churches partnering together can achieve much more. The New Testament shows churches working together for larger goals in Christ’s cause. God’s heart is to strengthen churches and remind them they aren’t alone in the Great Commission. Certified Sending Partners exemplify loving the bride of Christ, helping other churches, and increasing the potential for new ministry partners.
When is the deadline to sign up to join or adopt a project?
Projects vary by dates, location, and capacity. Groups should plan 9-18 months ahead for a quality trip. Individuals should sign up ASAP. Email us with questions. brian@goodnewsjourney.org
Who runs the mission trips?
GoodNews Journey helps churches and individuals with trips, which are owned and run by adopting churches. Those churches willing to be Certified Sending Partners (CSP’s) have coordinators that are experienced leaders meeting high standards set by GoodNews Journey. Requirements include long-term field partnerships, background checks, Safe and Secure child safety training, appropriate adult-to-minor ratios, mission training, travel insurance, consent forms, and registration/payment programs.
Who can go?
GoodNews Journey offers mission trips for youth, college students, families, and adults, including all-men and all-women trips. Every participant is vetted and approved by the trip coordinator through an application.
Will a deposit be required for a participant to officially be accepted on a project?
Yes. It will be required to be paid at the end of the trip application. This deposit is applied to the trip cost if the applicant is accepted and refunded if denied. The deposit is typically non-refundable once accepted.
How will the participants make payment for their trip?
GoodNews Journey partners with Mobile Missions Network for registration through their Managed Missions system. Payment and fundraising can be done through that system. Payments can be made via Credit Card, ACH bank transfer from the applicant’s secure profile or by check. For mailing address and instructions email brian@goodnewsjourney.org.
How safe are the projects?
Projects are in safe locations, monitored by GoodNews Journey, the adopting church, and local ministry leaders. All leaders and team members receive training. Participants are covered by travel insurance and must complete applications, provide references, and undergo vetting. Minors are always supervised with an appropriate adult-to-student ratio.
Our church/organization has a connection with a Missionary, Church Planter, or Ministry Partner. Can we use this pathway for a trip?
Yes! We’d be glad to consider bringing your church and missions partner into the GoodNews Journey missions network. Fill out an Interest Form at the bottom of one of the project descriptions to get started. Missionaries, Church Planters, and Ministry Partners must adhere to the doctrines of evangelical Christianity.
